Thanks, Joseph, for the pointer to l3obsolete.txt.
I filtered out all occurences of \tl_new:Nn in my current project.
Another obsolete function I found is \tl_greplace_all_in:Nnn, but
\tl_greplace_all:Nnn does the same job, I guess.
