The problem is not only within LaTeX, but with respect to the inofrmation
other tools should extract: That is what is forcing a more complex syntax
also within LaTeX. And then you need a tool to check that syntax.

But that tool can perhaps be merged with the editor (like emacs), or a
separate program.
