New in IGCS - Warring States Project

Ed./Corp.: University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, USA
URL: http://www.umass.edu/wsp/
Language: English.

Self description: "The Project is based on the researches of Bruce and
Taeko Brooks into the dates and authenticity of the classical Chinese
texts. [...] The Warring States period [...] are little understood due to
uncertainty about the dates of the source texts. [...] The Project was
founded in 1993 by Lee R. Edwards, Dean of the College of Humanities and
Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, as a forum where
this work could be developed in dialogue with other scholars [...] It has
gradually become a focus of collaboration for the 100 international
scholars of the Warring States Working Group."

Site contents: (1) Methodology/Rules (Classical Chinese Primer; Dating
Problems/Directionality Problems; Sinological History; Ethics Watch); (2)
Results/Text Summaries (Tomb and Inscription Dates; Data Initiatives; Rural
Archaeology Center); (3) Publications/Research Tools (The Original
Analects; Analects For Dummies; Warring States Bookshop); (4)
Conferences/Upcoming/Travel; (5) E-Mail (Comparative Ancient History;
Philology in Real Time); (6) Journal; (7) Unsolved Problems; (8) News
(Newsletters; Warring States Links); (9) Implications (Asian Values; The
Emerging Picture). Resource suggested by E. Bruce Brooks, Warring States
Project, University of Massachusetts, USA.
