Dear mailing list subscribers,

A new plugin for MB DNA Analysis has been released. “KEGG API Client” can
be used to browse the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) from
within the program’s interface. KEGG is widely used for retrieving
information about specific metabolic pathways, as well as genomic and
proteomic data of about 400 available organisms.

The plugin can be downloaded from the following page:
http://update.molbiosoft.de
This plugin is distributed under the KEGG license agreement:
http://www.genome.ad.jp/kegg/kegg5.html

Some of the features: database-wide search (external databases, e.g.
GenBank, OMIM, etc. are also available), displaying of pathway maps with
highlighted components (user-defined), component analysis (searching all of
the available metabolic pathways for specific components). It is also
possible to retrieve any DNA or amino acid sequence available in KEGG and
import it directly into MB for further analysis, so you do not have to
actually exit the program in order to get the sequence of interest.

Please take into account that this is the first release of this plugin, so
any suggestions, requests for other features or hints are welcome.

Best regards,
 Oleg Simakov
