I'd like to report that this seems to be sane for typesetting
the GNU Emacs ``Hello'' file using either verbatim or two column
tabular (modulo missing fonts and \ERRORnotDEFINED).

(I find that to save a copy of the ``Hello'' file as UTF-8 I need to
go out of my way to set the Emacs variable "coding-system-for-write"
inasmuch as vanilla use of "save-buffer" appears to offer me a list of
codings matching the file as it is.)
