When using the T1 file, one ends up producing PK files -- Possibly, with the 8renc.def, one could avoid that (?). It is also interesting trying to use TS1 on say Zapf Chancery, because everything goes haywire. -- The font substitutions that LaTeX tries when a glyph isn't present in pzcmi8c, creates a mess instead of helping sorting it out.
