Mai 2005, 16.15 Uhr im Kommunikationszentrum des DKFZ, Hörsaal K2, INF 280, 69120 HD Nachfolgend und im Anhang finden Sie eine Kurzzusammenfassung des Vortrags: ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 'Using Matlab in the Life Sciences' Researchers and software developers in the life sciences all over the world use the MATLAB product family as a flexible platform for algorithm development and application deployment. Technical tasks in the life sciences include the processing of biosignal data, customizing algorithms in bioinformatics, and building applications for gene sequencing and expression array analysis. Solutions in this area from The MathWorks today are successfully used by the biological Max-Planck-Institutes all over Germany or at several Universities e.g. the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg, Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg or Eberhard-Karls-University of Tübingen. The lecture will begin with an introduction to MATLAB and some new features from the latest version, followed by a discussion covering the use of MATLAB for some typical image processing tasks from the life sciences: transforming MRI images and segmenting images of cells. We conclude with a demonstration of the use of MATLAB for data analysis and application development for bioinformatics, focussing on microarray and mass spectrometry data. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ gezeichnet: Becher, Dickhaus, Diepgen, Edler, Schmidt, Victor, Wahrendorf, Wellek Mit freundlichen Grüßen Lydia Roeder ******************************************************************************************* Sie finden das Kolloquiums-Programm auch im Internet unter <<http://www.med.uni-heidelberg.de/mi/news/colloquium/prgr_ss05_dt.htm>> ******************************************************************************************* <<AnkRoberts.rtf>> ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Organisation: Lydia Roeder University of Heidelberg Institute for Medical Biometry und Informatics Department of Medical Informatics <www.med.uni-heidelberg.de/mi> [log in to unmask] Im Neuenheimer Feld 400 tel: ++49/6221/56-7483 69120 Heidelberg, Germany fax: ++49/6221/56-4997 Mit freundlichen Gruessen / Kind regards / Au revoir / Adios Carina Ortseifen +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Dr. Carina Ortseifen Universitaet Heidelberg | | Telefon: 06221/54-4541 Universitaetsrechenzentrum | | Telefax: 06221/54-5581 Im Neuenheimer Feld 293 | | http://www.rzuser.uni-heidelberg.de/~x16/ D-69120 Heidelberg | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+
