Not really.  Using your example file:

LaTeX error on line 37 of file no file.
      See LaTeX manual for explanation.
      Type  H <return>  for immediate help.

Using \PackageError {package} {A traditional error} \@ehc:

We still have the TeX part starting with the number, but no code line
directly underneath the test.
