As David says this isn't necessary but it might be a good idea to add a
test. Almost all users will get the LaTeX2e update via their TeX system
and that will likely have a 'matching' version of other packages. So if
you do the update now then almost everyone will get the most transparent
change: new kernel, new allocation system.
